It's added automatically, there is no need to collect. You get one candy every 5 minutes, and your timer is in the upper right corner of your screen. You get a free refill of 60 candies once per day.
Where do I get the "bombs" to clean the poisoned water?
You get a big group of them every 8 hours by clicking on the "get gifts" icon on the right side of your screen. When the 8 hours is up, the words change to "free gifts". The 8 hour gift can be picked up on the main event island OR on your regular main island.
You get a random amount of 1-4 from the assorted bomb factories which are scattered across the quest islands. There is nowhere on the main event island to pick them up, except for the first one during the tutorial.
NOTE: Clear as many factories from island 1 as you possibly can before moving on to island 2. Island 2 is very stingy with factories in the early stages, and you will get stuck very quickly if you don't have those bombs on hand. The last step on 1 is to serve coffee to the 4 cupids, so grab the factories before you do that last step.
